Approval by Una Voce America!
Treasure Valley Latin Mass Society, Una Voce St. Joseph Chapter
Good news! Our application to become a Una Voce Chapter was approved by Una Voce America! (See our new title above.)
We are the first Una Voce Chapter in Idaho.
What is Una Voce?
This is taken from the Una Voce America website:
A Role of Service to the Church
“The International Una Voce Federation has played an important role in supporting the use of the 1962 edition of the Roman Missal in obedience to the directives of the Holy See. For this valuable service I express my gratitude to the members of the Federation and extend my blessing.” Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, Prefect of the congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith, speaking to the Una Voce Federation, 25 July 1996
Una Voce (from the Preface of the Most Holy Trinity – with one voice) is an international federation of associations, founded in 1966 in Rome, that now includes national associations in 17 nations on every continent. It is dedicated to ensuring that the Roman Mass codified by St. Pius V is maintained as one of the forms of eucharistic worship which are honored in universal liturgical life, and to restoring the use of Latin, Gregorian Chant, and sacred polyphony in Catholic liturgy. The Una Voce International website provides information about officers and national associations: www.fiuv.org
Members believe that use of Latin in the Mass and Sacraments is a unifying force, needed by the Church in these days of widespread controversy. They believe that using the rites which were the form of Catholic worship for over 1,500 years will preserve the traditional emphasis on the Mass as Sacrifice, with its central teaching of transubstantiation, This, in turn, will help reverse the decline in vocations as altar boys, charged with difficult and meaningful duties, will be imbued from an early age with a sense of the sacred. We Catholics possess a living heritage. We owe a duty to our posterity to transmit it in its fullness, and as a living tradition. This is not only the feeling of Una Voce, it is the teaching of all the postconciliar Popes.

Requiem Mass - observations from a first-timer
Dear Father,
I attended the Mass yesterday afternoon (11/2). I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for presiding over this Mass. It was an experience I shall never forget. I have been longing for something more from liturgy for a very long time, and I knew my longings would be fulfilled in the Latin Mass, although I'd never attended one. I truly felt as if I was just this side of the veil yesterday, and I cried for a good part of it. It was beautiful worship, and watching you and the servers was like a holy dance. At no point did I feel "slighted" for not understanding the Latin, or having your back to me; instead, it all felt right and proper. The only thing I felt other than joy was a feeling of great sadness that such a thing of beauty was ever taken away from us. I grew up in the 60s-70s so the Novus Ordo is the only Mass I know. I fear that now my longing will be even greater as I return to that same Mass, now that I have experienced the alternative. However, I know that our Lord is there and that is reason to endure! Please be assured of my continual prayers for you.
God bless you Father.
Sincerely and in Christ's love,
